Q: On your web-site you talk about fantastic Italian paint finishes? Could you forward to us charts or brochures about them and availability of these paints – where to purchase etc?

A: I am sorry to say that Oikos are not manufacturing in N.Z. They are an Italian paint manufacturer distributing throughout Europe, United States and the Pacific Rim & only just recently, Australia. Their Export Division are keen to expand into N.Z. but I am unable to say when or if that will happen in the short term.  N.Z. is a long way away from Italy in relation to freighting their products out here but their Australian division is only an e-mail away and the product can get here within three days which is not that much of a hassel.

Several paint manufacturers in N.Z. (who have been approached to share in this opportunity) feel another paint company selling paint is the last thing N.Z. needs, but in this respect we’re talking about totally biodegradable paints and a lot of people like that aspect! I am left with the feeling after talking with the several paint manufacturers that they may lose a lot of business to a foriegn paint being sold either through their stores or anywhere near them and are wary of more competition in which could already be considered a 'cut-throat industry'!

However in the near future, these fantastic Italian paint finishes, (which is the only way to describe them as they have tremendous appeal and are unlike anything else on the N.Z. market), will be going up on walls in a string of new homes to be built by an investor who wants to construct a series of quality homes with Italian paint products inside and out and make this a theme for the buyers.
Q: "Could you give us an address please of a home that has had the Italian Oikos paint products put on it"?

Yes I could but that may land us in hot water, at the moment we have completed 6 house projects using Oikos paints and coloured-plaster finishes, either total throughout the house or just feature walls, but the dwellings, of one sort and another, are in either remote locations, up long driveways, or simply, just owned by people who might not appreciate cars pulling up out side, looking at them or knocking on the door, type of thing, and most of these jobs are interior so you just won't get the chance to actually get real close to see/touch anyway. The Oikos website is a really good start, and if you're keen to try/buy then we get samples in for you from Australia and go from there by sending out colour swatches or visiting. (Travel and consultancy costs apply)

In all instances of the jobs we have completed using Oikos Products, it has involved people who have lived or travelled through Italy/Europe, they're already familiar with the finish and want it again in their new home in N.Z.

If the investor I was talking about in the previous answer had not been affected by the economic down-turn, then 20 or more homes would exist by now with the Italian products (inside and out), and on/in a showhome for you to walk around and look at as well.  I am sorry about this, things said in 2007 were "on course" as they say, but who could have foreseen an interruption of a recession for this length of time?  However, all going well, with the investor's interests gathering momentun again after such a "lull", things will be back on track end of this year we "hopefully predict", so if your building plans are not yet finalised then there is still plenty of time before you have to make the final decision on your decorating and if you're looking for that "something different", then please don't hesitate to give us a call.
